November 2008: Locks of Love
November 14, 2008
I would first like to start by saying, "I truely believe EVERY GIRL NEEDS A BOW!"
I have been thinking of things I can do to GIVE BACK for several months. Last night while praying, it just came to me. GIVE YOUR HAIR TO A LITTLE GIRL WHO HAS NONE!
I am currently in need of a haircut! I have been growing out my hair for sometime now. Actually since Kennalea was born. It has been about 13 months now and it is about 1 inch above my waistline. So it is extremely long!
I know hair for me is one of the ways I can show off my personality. How awful for a little girl to be UNABLE to show off her personality and not wear a bow! I know it also must take away from that feeling of being "NORMAL". "You know everyone else has hair my age, why can't I be normal and have hair too?"
When I was teaching; the school I taught at was a uniform school. The kids there always had such COOL hairstyles. I mean, nothing like when I was a kid and in Jr. High/Middle School! I know it was because that was the only way they could show off their personalities. There was one little girl that sticks out in my mind! She had a skin condition that made her hair and skin fall off. Poor little thing! She had the GREATEST spirit too! I know she would LOVE anyone to donate locks to her! I just wished I had thought of it then. She is now in H.S. at Carter-Riverside in Ft. Worth. When I donate my hair I am going to also nominate her for a hair prostheses.
This is by far only one cause of hair loss! We all know that Cancer plays a HUGE role in hair loss!
The requirements for Locks of Love are:
Hair cannot be overly treated with chemicals, must be at least 10 inches in length, has to be either braided or in a ponytail when cut, clean, no dreadlocks, and placed in a ziplock baggie after it has been cut (still in the braid or ponytail). It must also be dry or it will mildew!
If you would like to go to Locks of Love's website and find out more about it; here's the link to their website:

I am personally going to donate my locks soon. If you live locally and would like to donate too; I will GLADLY add your locks with mine and pay for the shipping.
I'd love to hear your feedback on this! Tell me if you are interested in helping EVERY GIRL NEEDS A BOW support Locks of Love!!!
Let's try to get a bow in EVERY LITTLE GIRLS HAIR this hoilday season!!!!
*IF YOUR HAIR IS SHORT OR NOT LONG ENOUGH, DON'T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU FROM DONATING! START GROWING IT OUT TODAY!*
***You can also give a money donation!!! Every little bit helps!!!***
STAY BLESSED,
Liz
